Hero Round Table Michigan 2023

Hero Round Table Michigan - Another Great Year

Most of the Heroic Imagination Project board attended the latest Hero Round Table in Michigan over October 8th to 10th. Nothing beats looking across the table and talking to a real person. Certainly not staring at your screen filled with small video representations. We took the opportunity to think about the future of HIP, connect with some new people doing interesting work, and generally having a good time with good people.

Back to Weekly Emails

As many of you noted, our weekly emails dropped off when Joel Halbert headed to greener pastures in Perth. Joel did a fantastic job of sending out a weekly update. It was something HIP needed to re-establish. Now, here I am re-establishing it again. Let me know what you’d like to see in these emails. I’ll be experimenting a bit, but you can expect links to stories and research for sure.

This Week in Heroism

  • Fast action and CPR saves Omaha middle school runner. “I think a mother instinct - and a teacher and a coach instinct kicked in — like you have to check on this kid.” LINK

  • Woman recognized for saving drowning man at Ann Arbor park. Margarita Howes was presented with the Michelle Werning Everyday Hero Award at the Hero Round Table last week. “You have to have that mindset that anything can happen. I wasn’t planning on doing CPR on a dock in a swimsuit that day.” LINK

  • Project Hiu hires fishing boats to run tours instead of killing sharks. “When I was a kid, I wanted to start a war to save sharks. Now that I’m older, I want to start a war for the men that fish them.” LINK

Thanks for reading. Thanks for signing up whenever you did - days, months, or years ago. We’re proud to be leading the Heroic Imagination Project into the future. The sun is shining down here in southern Gippsland. Hope it’s shining for you. If it’s not, rain isn’t too bad. See you next week.
