Welcome to Issue 0003
Welcome everyone! This week I thought it would be worth mentioning that we have launched our Club-In-A-Box program. The program is a free club setup how-to for students. It walks them through how to start and maintain a student club, aimed at learning about Heroism and Social Psychology. The program comes with multiple lessons and discussion topics surrounding Social Psychology. If you're interested in this for your own school or know someone who would be, then email me at [email protected]. We're also happy to report another cohort of Level 1 Course Heroes began their journey with us at the start of the month. If you're interested in joining in and trying out the course, you can contact me at the same email address
Here is an article that talks about when being a hero becomes a National Imperative. During national Hero day in the Philipines their Chief of Defense asked for everyday citisens to become Heroes for others. Using past examples of great Heroism he encouraged individuals to think of themselves as Heores for the sake of their own community.
Here is a story about someone in Ireland resucing a donkey from floodwaters. It's a great example of helping for altruistic reasons. Suzanne new that Mike the donkey had no way of repaying her but she saved him anyway.
Here is one of our board members, Suzanne Bernier, talking about her book "Disaster Heroes: Invisible Champions of Help, Hope and Healing".
Here is a movie about Ezra, a man that ran into a burning mobile home to save a stranger. The video also features appearances from Dr Zimbardo, talking about the psychology of the event.
If everyone were satisfied with themselves, there would be no heroes
