HIP Newsletter - Issue 0004
Welcome to Issue 0004
Hello Everyone! As always I'm incredibly happy to welcome you to another issue of the HIP Newsletter. We had an amazing response to the HIP Hero Club last week, so thank you to everyone that showed interest, and signed up. This week I thought it would be good to go over some of the research that backs up what we do. A lot of study has gone into this field over the years and the evidence base is only getting stronger.
"Why do Bystanders of Bullying Help or Not". This research piece explores Bystander and Defender behavior in childhood and early adolescence. It takes a broad approach and examines the impact of parent and peer relationships. Link Here
"Defining, Characterizing, and Classifying the complex construct of Moral Courage". The authors of this piece talk about factors that inhibit and increase morally courageous behavior. It also discusses moral training as a way to foster moral courage. Link Here
"The invisible epidemic of Moral Injury that affects millions". This article talks about the deep emotional scars that can be left after circumstances force someone to violate a core tenet of their moral code. It uses the context of Hospitals being overrun during the Pandemic and talks about how to heal the damage. Link Here
"Middle School boys thought the way their teacher treated the girls in their class was creepy so they recorded the interactions". This piece is a great example of the impact that anyone can have. Its common to feel powerless but all actions have an effect. Link Here
The line between good and evil is permeable and almost anyone can be induced to cross it when pressured by situational forces.
Thank you for reading
