Welcome to Issue 0005
Hi, this is Matt, not Joel. I'm the President of the Heroic Imagination Project and wanted to thank you for being part of HIP. Restarting our weekly emails is part of our mission to connect with everyone around the world wanting to be part of the hero training movement. We do, however, think the best way to connect is in person. In April, we held a HIP Summit in Italy where HIPsters (let me know how you feel about this term) came together to share their work and connect with each other. It was a huge success on a small scale. Next month, we're running a Hero Round Table, which is a larger scale opportunity to meet up with like-minded people. There's nothing like spending a couple of days with people who think like you, challenge you, and enjoy you. That's what the Hero Round Table is designed to do. You can find out more information about the hows and whys at heroroundtable.com, but we'll be holding a few in the next six months - maybe one near you.

"2022 Aurora Prize ceremony to take place in Venice in October". The Aurora Prize ceremony celebrates acts of humanitarianism. This year, Aurora honors three modern-day heroes for giving access to education to girls and women in Afghanistan, liberating prisoners of war in Yemen, and defending human rights in Egypt. Link Here
"Integrity involves doing the right thing at the right time for the right reasons, even when it is not convenient or no one sees it". Capt Sully Sullenberger talks about maintaining core values when in a leadership role. Link Here
"He was all alone. The boat was broken. I knew how to fix it, so I told him I'd fix it for him." This article shows the kindness that can be found in strangers during a time of need. A sailor whose boat was falling apart found help in a local community. Link Here
"Restaurant worker praised for saving mom and child from carjacking" A local fast food employee rushed to help when they saw someone being carjacked. A great example of being ready to act at any time. Link Here
Heroes are those who can somehow resist the power of the situation and act out of noble motives, or behave in ways that do not demean others when they easily can.

Thanks for getting this far down the email. Matt again. In the last 18 months, a new board of directors has been pushing HIP further than it's ever been pushed and we're excited to be working with groups across the globe in venues large and small. Get in touch if you have an idea, or want some hero training, or want to just chat. We're here to connect with others and spread heroism.
