HIP Newsletter - Issue 0006

Welcome to Issue 0006

Hi everyone It's Joel again. In light of the upcoming Hero Round Table event, I've decided to make this Issue all about the speakers that will be there. We aim to involve people from all walks of life so this should give you a good taste of what that looks like. We also want to prevent lack of money from ever being a barrier for people to attend. As such we rely on local and international sponsors to allow us to run scholarships and keep ticket prices down. If you know anyone that would be interested in donating or sponsoring us, in Hartland Michigan, or Yarram Victoria let me know at [email protected]

As I mention in almost every issue, this Newsletter is all about building community. This is because it's an extension of the larger HIP movement which is also, at its core, all about building that same community. I want to thank all of our readers for putting their time and energy into this movement.

Adelia Davis “By using a collection of U.S. and South African literature to talk about how representation affects black children’s self-identity, I am hoping to instill in them the same confidence.” - Adelia is a graduate of the University of Michigan where she studied biopsychology, cognition, and neuroscience. She chose to spend a year in Cape Town, South Africa observing the similarities of black representation in children’s literature in comparison to the United States. You can read about her work with the Wallenberg Institute here: Link Here

Anthony Grupido "Ever since that day I have used Magic and stories from my personal experiences to teach people about Mental Health in a way that’s easily accessible and comfortable." - Anthony is a Magician and Keynote Speaker. As an entertainer, he’s performed magic and comedy all over the world at corporate events, festivals, and trade shows opening up for acts like Jim Gaffigan, The Impractical Jokers, Bill Engvall, and The Chainsmokers! You can get to his website Here

Amber Smith "what I see time and time again from everyone I’ve worked with is that when you help someone else, you feel better yourself.” Amber founded Activate Good in 2005 (then known as ME3) when she noticed that people seemed to want to get involved to help the community but were not sure how to get started. Now its a wide-ranging project that enables everyday people to use their power for important causes. Checkout her website Here

Anthony Sadler "It was either do something or die." Anthony stopped a gunman armed with an AK-47 and 300 rounds on a train to Paris. He and his two friends later received the French award Knights of the Legion of Honor. Read about the event Here

A hero is someone who does what must be done, and needs no other reason.
