Welcome to Issue 0018
Welcome to the latest issue of the Heroic Imagination Newsletter. We're excited to share with you that in partnership with Doodles Academy, we've published an informative blog post that talks about HIP's mission and how to empower school-aged children with the knowledge of their own latent heroism. Our goal is to inspire a new generation of heroes to take action and have the courage to do what matters to them. I've included a link to the post at the bottom of this email. If you have any feedback or just want to talk about the concepts involved in this email or that post feel free to contact me here.
Courageous heroes respond to wild weather events. 2022 was a big year for catastrophic weather events across the world. These heroes stepped up to the occasion and helped where they could. From first responders to animal shelter employees, so many people saw the opportunity to help and simply acted. Link Here

Luckily 4 nearby backpackers stepped in to help. They were able to recover the victims from the waves as a rescue helicopter was called into the area. Link Here
Paramedics rescue sailer in a bizarre high seas rescue. Four paramedics, Brad Stokes, Joshua Lee, Prudence Snedden, and Anthony Crompton, were finalists in the state-wide QBANK Everyday Heroes Awards after they saved a man's life who went into cardiac arrest multiple times on an international vessel. Despite facing challenges such as language barriers, poor weather conditions, and equipment issues, the paramedics were able to keep the man alive and eventually flew him to the hospital for treatment. Grenfell's firefighters suffer from the same tragic illness. The Grenfell tower fire was a major fire in a low-income housing apartment tower in 2017. The firefighter response was quick and coordinated allowing them to save multiple lives. Without their help, the fire would have been far more devastating. Unfortunately, those same firefighters are now suffering from rare cancers, likely because of their presence at the fire. Link Here
it is only when a person goes out into the world with the thought that there are heroisms all around them, and with the desire all alive in their heart to follow any which may come within sight of them, that they break away as I did from the life they know, and venture forth into the wonderful mystic twilight land where lie the great adventures and the great rewards

In recent years the importance of community has been driven home in a major way. Whether it's natural disasters or a pandemic, we wouldn't be able to get by without the people around us. Thank you all for your fantastic support and for joining us in this heroic work that we do. The heroic movement is, at its core, a community movement; without you, this wouldn't work. Thank you all for being present with us and for working toward a world where heroism is the norm.- Joel Halbert
